Working Class Warrior

While I, too, was grabbed by the first question, I really struggled with the last one:
If you could pile any three people into a naked pyramid, who would you choose?

1. George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld
2. The CEOs of Exxon, Chevron, and Shell
3. Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, and Samuel Alito
4. Enron’s Jeffrey Skilling, Andrew Fastow, and the ghost of Ken Lay
5. Bill O’Reilly, Ann Coulter, and Rush Limbaugh
6. Revs. Pat Robertson, James Dobson, and Ted Haggard
I picked the first group 'cuz they seem the least likely to enjoy such an exercise, whereas groups 5 and 6 would likely most enjoy it.

How to Win a Fight With a Conservative is the ultimate survival guide for political arguments

My Liberal Identity:

You are a Working Class Warrior, also known as a blue-collar Democrat. You believe that the little guy is getting screwed by conservative greed-mongers and corporate criminals, and you’re not going to take it anymore.

Dianne Jacob takes it

All these public officials strokin' eachother off at the podium has been gross, but Dianne Jacob just took the cake with this statement, just made seconds ago:
Governor, why can't you just terminate the fire?
Gag me.

Illegal Wildfires?

No doubt you're aware that San Diego is once again besieged by wildfires. Ahead of the curve, SDCCS canceled classes for today and tomorrow--as Amy said, "In Michigan, this would be a snow day!"

Indeed.

In places of "weather", things shut down when it gets too cold. Here in the coastal desert, it's just the opposite.

Now for my conspiracy theory.

Watching the news this morning (the local Fox affiliate--since shutting off the cable, it's one of the clearest channels I get over the air), one of the anchors slipped in the speculation that the fires may have been caused, in part, by illegal aliens. It was the only time I heard the assertion, and I haven't heard much else in the way of suspected causes.

It makes me wonder, though, about those who are always so quick to blame wildfires here on illegal aliens crossing from Mexico. It speaks of an incredible disregard for the human beings risking their lives for the chance at a better one. Certainly we know that these "Minutemen" types already despise immigrants, but do they really think that those crossing already inhospitable terrain would make things even more dangerous and even fatal?

I was reminded of the wildfires in Greece and of an online friend explaining that the conflagrations had very likely been intentionally set by politically radical movements. I couldn't help but wonder how easy it would be for the politically unscrupulous here, in the land-of-the-free-home-of-the-brave, to do something similar. Sure, there are some bad dudes that come up illegally, but that doesn't make them all "predator aliens" (no, not some sci-fi hybrid)--but to what lengths would immigration 'reformers' go in order to get their way?

Just wondering.

The SDCCS Community Garden

Now that some of the flower boxes have been planted--as well as seeds of ideas--it's time to plant a new blog, too! The as yet to be officially named blog will be the place to check out news and photos of the garden's progress. As of right now, Amy, Annie, and I will be tending the garden's online offshoot, but if you have any words or images to contribute, let one of us know--this blog will need love and attention, too, if we want it to thrive like our soon to be oasis!
